I am so angry right now. Ds and I went school shoe shopping to a very reputable store in our area. It is a mom and pop shop not a chain and I've heard nothing but good things from there.
We go in and first they show me one rack of shoes they say they have in ds's size. We don't see anything but see some Doc Martens on another rack. I ask if they have them in ds's size and they say they probably do. Hmmmm, why didn't they tell me about this rack?
Ok so the girl goes back and brings me back - girl's shoes - Mary Janes. This happens THREE times before she brings out the correct shoes.
The manager of the store that is supposed to check each person's shoes for correct fit before they leave checks his shoes. He says to try a smaller size or put a tongue pad in. So they don't have the size down and I ask for them to put the tongue pad in. The girl comes back, ds puts on the shoes, the guy checks them again says they fit fine, and we pay and leave.
We get home, I go to put away the shoes. I smell this horrible toxic smell. It is ds $50 shoes. They Super glued in the tongues. I can't have ds wear these ! They smell horrible and toxic, like those horrible toxic magic markers you can't stand! Besides that, they are super glued in! When he does grow into the slightly larger size, I can't take the pads out! So I'm going to have to go get the same size shoes without the pad in next time? for $50?!
Ok, it gets better. THE SHOES ARE BOTH DIFFERENT SIZES! I called the store immediately and they said oh it happens bring them back. Yes, but #1 I don't want this horrible glue in my son's shoes! I thought the pad would be removable for when his foot gets bigger, we could take it out! So even if they Find the other shoe - and I have to take ds Back to the store (which is a project in itself) because since they super glued in the tongue pads I can't tell what sizes the shoes are! One looks drastically larger than the other! This guy has a super reputation here, yet the girl glued the pads in the wrong shoes - he checked them AGAIN and said they were now fine!
I called dh and we are all going back tonight - ds is going to be tired but it is better than just me dealing with the manager. So what should I do since they glued in the pad to one shoe already? Ask for a complete refund? Get the other shoe? But what do I do about the super glued one? I thought they'd be removeable! They STINK and I don't want anything like that absorbed into my ds's skin!! ARGH! Thanks for the vent and please give me your advice, we are going there in an hour!! (6:30pm)

I would return the pair that you have now for a new pair that are the correct size. Also I would just ask for the toung pads and put them in yourself (the new pair).

I would just ask for a full refund. All of these mistakes were theirs, not yours.

Geez...what a mess.
I would either ask for a whole new pair of shoes...in the correct size...with new and removable tongue pads or a complete refund.
If they normally have a good reputation it could very well just be a bad day and not really representative of their usual service level.

Id get a refund. They should have told you or at least asked if they could super glue the pads into the shoes (which I dont think is a good idea if it was super glue).
Ive never rec'd different sizes in shoes ever. How the heck can something like that happen?
Why did the girl keep bringing the wrong shoes? That alone would have been enough for me to leave.
Go and get some shoes from the nearest mall, I just got my son those new Sketcher Airators on sale for $40 (usually they are $50) at JcPenny. That brand lasts a long time and are comfortable.

i would get a refund, then go to a different store. 50$ is alot for kids shoes. its funny, we only spend about 20.00 between 2 pairs of shoes, but we get them at walmart, because surpirse surprise they are the only store with kids shoes here! wow, amazing right? if we had other options for her shoe we would use em. thisyear though my sister said she wants to buy dd's shoes and she is taking her to the city to look for good ones, not ones that will fall apart in 3 months.

Curious to see what they did for you? I hope they handled it right. No one should have GLUED anything without making sure you knew they were doing just that!

Hi sorry I was so irate yesterday. I had such a headache and I had a hard time breathing yesterday - dh said, "of course you do. It's the contact cement they used". After some Motrin and lots of fresh air I finally felt better.
Well we went back. They couldn't find the other shoe that matched ds's correct size. I did say to the manager, "what was I supposed to do when ds grew into the correct size?" He said, "you come back and we'd take the pads out". There was no way that those pads were coming out! Furthermore, with the way the girl just glopped on the cement and stuck the pads in, dh said that they would never dry out properly either. The cement should be applied, allowed to dry for a Day then stuck together. They were still glopping wet four hours after we brought them home.
He made a big point of saying, "You made it really clear that you didn't want to order the size down" and I feel that was pretty unfair. They asked me if I wanted to and I told them I'd rather not. I just had a feeling with it being so chaotic in there that I would either get the wrong shoes again or they wouldn't be on time for school, but of course I didn't tell them that. So I think that was pretty unfair for him to infer I made a big deal about it, since I didn't.
In the end, he said, "I can see there will be no pleasing you so here is your check" and handed it to me. I was pretty astounded. I was planning on looking for another pair there and he just gave me my walking papers.
I did write down the name and style of the shoe but unfortunately, unless we lived in the UK, we can't get them through the internet here. They'd have to be ordered. So now I'm back to where we started. At least he won't have to wear shoes like they smelled. Like I said I had the worst headache and felt my chest was heavy, like you do with a bad chest cold. Dh said, of course you do, that's why they tell you when you are working with contact cement to work with it *outside* and wear a respirator! Not a dust mask. A respirator. Unbelievable!!

Geez! For a place with such a good reputation, their service sure seems like junk! You'd think he'd be appologetic and try to make things right, rather than just hand the check back and say there's no pleasing you.
Wow. If I were you, I'd go to Yelpand put up a review.
