Hello--

My DH has been taking Lexapro for about 5-6 months now (and life was good) he "lost" his bottle and just decided to quit taking the stuff (he has "lost" it a few times before, but we always "find" it and he started taking it again)

Now he thinks he's just FINE and doesn't NEED it anymore----HELP!!! How can you convince someone that is completely clueless as to how much he drives everyone around him crazy?????

I can't stand being in the same house as him--he even has been calling me while he is at work multiple times a day!

I don't know how he will function in school this fall.....I don't know what to do!

Oh and the "low sex drive" is long gone.....dang. (as if buddy!)

Has anyone else noticed how he acts? If they have you can sometimes have them talk to him as well. Sometimes it takes a couple of people to mention it.

He pretty much just sees me, the kids and his people at work---he claims that he is so much more productive now....(whatever)

He just doesn't like the "stigma" of being on an anti-depressant and he didn't like the sexual side effects.

Talk to him about changing the meds then. Welbutrin is an anti anxiety med that also is given to HELP sexual problems. It rarely intereferes with sex drive in a negative way.

I have a sister that does this. She will stop taking her antidepressant and say she is fine. She always says the meds were not working so she just stops them. I can tell a big difference just talking to her on the phone when she does not take them. She has done this twice with Lexapro. I feel for you. Hugs and prayers.
I have tried to explain to my sister that I can tell a difference in her when she takes them even if she can't. She worries more and cries more when she does not take them. She has done this 3 times in the last few years. I take meds for depression and I too have gone off of them. But it doesn't last long cause I can't stand myself.
Good luck in trying to help your DH.

I should have added that she stopped Lexapro 2 times and this last time she stopped taking Cymbalta.

I think that's exactly what he needs---his issue isn't really depression anymore--it's anxiety.

His mom, his sister, his brother, our son....all take anti-anxiety meds.....I just don't understand why it's such a big deal.

I have a lot to loose if he doesn't buckle down--he starts nursing school next week!
