We just got back home from driving 3 hrs (each way) to pick up an RV that DH just bought.
I haven't even been IN an RV since I was a kid (grandparents owned one) and I'm just SO excited about owning one now! I can hardly wait to get in it tomorrow and start cleaning it up...and decorating it....and then, of course, our FIRST TRIP! I'm giddy, like a little GIRL over it!

Sorry, just HAD to post about it. I'm so excited!!!! :happy dance:

Anyone else own an RV out there?

Yeah, I can't wait to make curtains for it, and I was thinking that since our dog will also be in it that I would maybe make covers for the cushions that you just tie at the corners (and along the sides) for easy cleaning.

This one only cost us $600, but it RUNS! It needs alot of TLC, and I think the carpet needs to be torn up...its RUST colored and looks like it's been there since the 70s! (ha) Maybe we'll put linolum in it for easy cleaning too.

Oh, and DH says he's going to paint it! It has 3 dark brown stripes going all the way around it (one at the top, one at the bottom, and one around the middle) that he just can't STAND! I agree...but what type of paint should we buy? Any idea?

Yeah. Good point!

Oh well...we've got some fairly local state parks we'd love to go to.
DD has been DYING for her Dad to teach her how to fish! THAT, in itself, would be worth the gas money to me!

Since we like to take "weekenders" (instead of "real" vacations) about every 6-8 wks., and we usually end up in a cabin which costs about $100/noc., I figure that in about 9 mos. the RV would have paid for itself...that is, as long as everything WORKS in it. I don't know if the fridge, etc. even works, but for $600 we think it was a good deal. And besides, if we fix it up we can sell it for profit and get a nicer one, so I look at it as an investment.

Ours has strips on the outside of it too! My dh is going to remove them w/ a heat gun and he said you can go to a parts store and buy new one really cheap.. We pressure washed the whole thing and it looked a lot cleaner than we thought..
We may put new carpets in too! I just sampooed them, so they aren't that bad.

I just found the perfect RV except for one tiny flaw..... we don't have a vehicle big enough to tow. The price was incredible and the condition excellent. We would have had to buy a new vehicle just to haul. We need a smaller one to haul with van. we currently have a pop up camper. I am not a big camper so a RV with indorr plumbing I am really looking forward to.

Oh you lucky girl! We plan on getting one in a few years (maybe 5) and touring the country for at least a year!
