Ok, now that I've entered the casted kid club *sigh* Anyone have any helpful advice and tips that they've learned that could help us out?

So far, we're trying to figure out the best way o bathe, and to keep the cast clean as possible,, *she won't be walking on it for at least a month, so the bottom will fare better, but we don't want it any 'yukkier' than has to be around the top edge and such*

Also, looking for tips on being in dress code and comfortable in a wheelchair? lol.. All I can come up with is sweats and maybe her athletic shorts until then.

My dd broke her arm and what we would do for a bath is rap a hand towel around the top of her cast and put a plastic bag on her arm and rubber band over the bag around the towel. She hung her arm over the outside of the tub and the towel soaked up any water that would drip that way. If her cast happens to get wet blow it dry with a blow dryer on low. When she is sitting in her wheel chair have her reposition her butt often so she doesn't get sore. I would say either shorts or sweats will probably be the most comfortable. Hopefully time will pass fast, you find that you will adjust just fine and make it work. Good luck to you.

thanks. It's her leg, and as of now, she's planning on just trying to sit sideways in the tub with both legs over the edge,,, she's gonna be wearing a bathing suit in case she can't get out,, hubby would be much more able to get her out than i lol , course, she wants a suit on even if it's just ME that has to help her

I hear ya, my daughter is only 8 and I have to buy the biggest pony holders to tie up her hair she has so much. We go through the shampoo too. Glad to hear she is adjusting.
