We don't have any video game systems but if we get one we will not get the M-rated games or anything violent. All games will strictly be reviewed by me and dh.

Heelys!! Hate them! Way too dangerous IMO, and banned in most places anyway.

I also agree with inappropriate T-shirts, especially in school. The hard part is explaining to the kids WHY they can't have these things (and not because I am the meanest mom on the planet!!!)

Also, if I had a daughter, I would NEVER let her wear the pants that say JUICY on the fanny!!! Or those hooker-wannabe BRATZ dolls. These items are too sexualized for kids, JMHO - not to offend!

I will not buy my dd innappropriate clothing (shorty shirts, lowrider pants, pants with words on the butt, shirts with mean or spoiled-rotten type sayings on them). I never bought my dd one of those Power Wheel jeeps when she was little and I refuse to buy her one of those battery-operated scooters that you sit and ride on. She already has a bike and a regular scooter -- using a little leg power to get around won't kill her.

When my kids grow up, I'm not buying them a car.

Oh, I forgot Bratz! Ane Heelys! My kids are too young for those yet.

We are in debates about a game system. I vote no - not past Gameboy, but dh, I think, wants one for himself.

I won't buy toy guns--refuse to have them! I don't like the pants with stuff on hiney either although mother in law got some shorts for dsd. Oh and Marilyn Manson cd's --dd brought one home I threw it away.

I agree with all mentioned above.
my oldest is 4 and has been asking for a dog! That's a big no! I know one day we will end up getting one but that's when they are older. I tell him when he can keep his toys cleaned up and take care of his things. He says that's ok, I have Alaina, I can feed and walk her! (Alaina is my 21 mos. old)

Healies, I don't know if that is how you spell them.
Fireworks, dh is a party pooper.
I wasn't going to buy garden shoes even though dd has been asking for them for ever but I gave in this year.

DD is ALLOWED to have Heelies, Bratz, and she has a T-shirt that says "I'm In Trouble Again" and a pair of knit shorts that she wears to bed that say "Princess" on the back. She is also allowed to have toy guns. Heck, she has the whole cowboy outfit and hubby is going to teach her how to shoot a real gun this year. Next time she says I'm a mean Mommy, I'll have to tell her about this thread.

That said, we haven't yet bought her a 4-wheel drive car or cycle. Even though we have a larger property, I just can't imagine her using it. Plus we hate those plastic wheels that just slip on the grass. Since I don't want her driving on the street - Aaaacccckkkk! - I don't see how those battery operated vehicles would be much use.

I have also told DD she can't have a trampoline. Too many people get hurt. We have someone in our own family who almost ended up as a quadraplegic. DD gets to use the tramp at gymnastics. If she ever gets seriously into cheerleading, then I'll reconsider but not before then.
