DS had his first football of this season last night:happy dance: . Well since DH is the Def. Coach we had to be there early anyway..... Well I brought my youngest brother ( he is 9 years old, and was adopted 2 years ago, well he has some special needs, and does really well with DH) with me. My BIL & SIL were also there. So we're sitting there waiting on the game to get started, and I look behind me to see my brother climbing the chain link fence that borders the football field and a backyard.
Well as I am about to yell..I mean tell him to get down, we hear
pop pop pop pop pop pop pop pop pop . I looked at my BIL and said that wasn't firecrackers was it? Nope it was a pistol. Two houses down.
To top it off, there was an off duty police officer walking around (in uniform) who didn't even flinch as this was happening, didn't go to investigate. When asked why he didn't go over there, his reply was "I can't see them". Granted this isn't the best area of our city, now I am really concerened (sp) about future games here.
Later on we find out from the officer who works homicide, he worked a murder there not 2weeks ago.
Then as we are loading the car after the game, there was another gun shot.
I may be naive (sp) but I had always felt some what safe in my city. I mean I know that there is a crap load of crime here, but come on, take it somewhere besides where kids are playing football.
