I was thinking of selling mine and actually I posted it on craigslist but thankfully nobody has inquired about it yet. But I just wondered if anyone on here has even bought a used one? I mean when planning my wedding, I would never have considered it, even though I went to David's Bridal trying to find a $99 dress I liked and couldn't. (mom ended up buying my $800 dress though, thank God!) but I thought if I could sell it to pay for Xmas then it would be for a good cause, well sorta! lol

I know s/one who bought one off Craigslist, but it was supposedly never worn (called off wedding). I don't see why a wedding dress has to be brand new- if its style someone likes and you are willing to part with it why not? I'd be willing to buy used and save the money on a great dress.

I've been contemplating getting rid of mine in the spirit of decluttering. The reality is that my dress will likely be 30 years old by the time my girls get married, terribly out of fashion, and maybe not something they'd every want.

Good luck!!

i sold mine for $50. i hated it anyway. i was glad to see it go!

the thing i must say though is even though you paid $800 for it, i really dont think anyone will pay more than $100 for a wedding gown thats used. i might be wrong. yes you've only worn it for a few hours but a wedding gown is such a personal thing and its the one item that women will blow money on - so they necessarily dont want to spend too much on something that they kinda like.

alot of my girlfriends have tried to sell their gowns - and let me tell you those gowns were not cheap! and they had images in their mind that they would get at least 50% of what they paid....no one bit. so if you're ok with parting with it then go for it - but maybe be prepared (and my friends were angry!) that no one was willing to pay more than 100-150 tops for their gowns.

good luck!

I bought my wedding gown second hand at a consignment shop that sold just bridal and bridal party clothes. I was 18 when I got married and couldn't afford much. I think it is silly to hold on to the gown. Dd's never wear them these days so what's the point? JMO
