I've been doing a lot of reading about the candidates for the upcoming presidential election. I'll start by saying I am a Democrat and will be voting as such. I don't dislike any of the candidates (please don't turn this into an I hate Hilary debate or platform). Honestly, the cadidate I like best really has no chance of winning. I like everything that Dennis Kucinich stands for. He's true to his word, he votes with his heart and doesn't play politics. I also have a second runner up for my vote who has more of a chance and I like him too.

Do you vote for candidates that you really like even if you know they don't have a snowballs chance in....?

Hmmm... interesting question. I think I would rather give my vote to one of the major candidates than on someone who doesn't stand a chance. Maybe that's not the right way of thinking, but that's what I typically do.

I'm a Democrat in Northern Idaho -- honestly I don't think I ever have voted for a winning candidate, though a couple came close! Actually I think I voted for a judge one time that won.

Anyway, it really depends on the election and the position. Wasn't it the Gore / Bush election where Ralph Nader actually took votes that ended up helping defeat Gore? That I'm against. Gore's not perfect, not that I'm saying Nader is, but I would have preferred Gore to have won over Bush. And Nader, no matter what his excuse was, and his voters did help to contribute to that election.

Well, my dh was a staunch Nader supporter. We had the sign in the yard and bumper stickers on the van. dh voted for Nader, but I just could not make myself do it. I had to vote for Gore, because I could not stand to think that I may have contributed to Bush getting elected!!! It is sad that is the way it works, but it does.

I love Ron Paul. Everyone says there's no way he will win. I'm voting for him anyway and so is my husband.

I think you supoort who you want. I do know that when it comes time for the election in november I have learned that if you vote someone that won't even have a chance, then you are usually giving your vote away. I think that's what happened whenPerot won Anyway I am a democrat and I do like what Clinton stands for. I am for Hilary for president and Oba Baden spelled wrong for vice what do you think!

It seems I have always voted for underdogs in the primary. If I support the candidate, I vote for them. JMO

Nobody I have ever voted for in the presidential primary has gone on to win the presidency ever.

I vote for the candidate that I like the best wether they "have a chance" of winning or not. I think that part of what is wrong with our system is that people don't vote who they truely want and allow the media to sway their vote. JMO

When I was young, I voted based on the card my dad would write up for me on how to vote. I was too "busy" to study the candidates.

Later, I voted based on what the media said would probably win. I listened to what everyone else said about the candidates.

Recently, I've began to vote based on reading about the candidates - both what they say and what others say. If they already are elected representatives, I read about how they vote. I try to sort out what I think is lies, and what I think the candidate really stands for.

I think the absolute WORST thing one can do is NOT vote. Especially women - it took a lot of time, trial and fighting to get the right to vote, and to waste it is a pity. But that's another topic I can get really heated about.

I (now) would vote for who *I* wished would be winner, whether or not I thought they would "win". Who knows, maybe the next person feels the same as you, and the next, and the next, and the next...

And me? Personally right now I like Obama. That may change between now and next year
