My daughter didn't walk until 14 months. There were no PHYSICAL problems of any kind. Within 2 days, she was running from one end of the house to the other. The walking at 15 months is not a problem. It is still within the spectrum of "normal."

However, his not talking is not within the spectrum of normal. He needs to be seen by a developmental pediatrician in my opinion. My daughter had a 2 1/2 year speech delay at age 3 1/2. It is true that some children do not speak until age 3. I had a friend whose younger brother said nix, nada, until age 3 and started speaking in full sentences.

However, there could be a speech delay. Toothbrush is not a word that he would say at his age. However, want or please might be. Children will refuse to speak if they are not ready. I wish we had had our daughter evaluated earlier. I just wanted to wait until age 3 to give her a chance to be one of the late, age 3 talkers. I do think your concerns about his speech need to be evaluated. We made a mistake in waiting so long.
