Angry NO Baby...They Sent Her Home!!

Update on my SIL...

I'm disgusted with her doctor's office. For one, she's not even to her due date yet, so I didn't see the need for induction...especially since her cervix hadn't thinned, she hadn't dilated nor had the baby dropped. There's no toxemia or any risks...so I'm just not getting the reason for induction.

They stopped the pill yesterday a.m. and started the Pitocin...it didn't work. The doctor came in around noon and examined her. She had dilated 1 cm...but that was all. He said he needed to send her home or he was 95% sure she'd end up having to have a c-section. I'm really, really praying for her that she'll be able to give birth vaginally. I'd ask that you all do the same. Now they've caused my brother to miss a week's work in GA to be up here with her...for no good reason. He's going to ask for next week too so he can be with her. Her due date is Sunday...we're really hoping it all happens for her within the next week....if not, I don't know what he'll do. Please pray for them!!

That's crazy. I hope everything works out and your brother is here when she delivers. I'm sure he must be frustrated also.

Did they give her a reason for induction? That is just odd to me...I thought the norm was to be at/PAST your due date for induction unless it is a medical necessity, and if they're sending her home, that can't be the case.

I hope your brother gets to be there for the birth!! Lots of good baby thoughts here.....

I was induced a week early and my dd was 8lbs 14 oz. I don't even want to know what she would have been if I waited. The reason was for me to go vaginal due to her size that is why I was induced but in the end I had to have a section. The doctor just said that he could have waited and waited for me to go on my own but it would have never happened. I was not thinning or dialating on my own. Somtimes the doc just know from family history and or that is their job. You have to remember they do this all the time.

This is her first baby, so it's hard to tell anything. They say she's measuring big, but I don't trust measurements. They said I was measuring big too, but they didn't induce and I went on my own just six days after my due date...and she didn't weight the estimated 9.5 lbs...she didn't even quite weigh 8! Her mother had to have a c-section with her, but it's because she was a twin and she and her sister both were breeched. Her baby has turned just fined and is headed in the right direction. They gave her no reason as to why they'd induce early, other than the fact that she's measuring big and it'll be a big baby (so they think)...If SHE were small in size, I could see their fear...but she's a big girl...tall and sized 16. Yes...I know that doesn't matter when it comes to the birth canal, but if the birth canal were smaller than they think it should be to deliver, they'd have mentioned that before now. To beat it all, these people aren't actually "her" doctor...her doctor was part of the practice and moved back home to Colorado to practice in July. I'm wondering if they're just too busy with the extra patient load from being short a doctor to worry with her and wanted to get her in and out as quickly as possible.

THAT IS SAD I AM SURE SHE IS VERY SCARED AND CONFUSED, I WAS INDUCED WITH ALL THREE OF MINE BUT I DO HAVE BIG BABIES AND SMALLER, THEY DIDN'T KNOW MY FIRST WAS SO BIG BUT I WAS ONLY INDUCED A DAY EARLY AND I WAS DILATED. IF YOUR NOT DILATED THEY NORMALLY WON'T DO IT FOR THE FEAR OF A C-SECTION. I BET YOUR RIGHT ABOUT THE OVER LOAD AND MAYBE ONE OF THE DOCTORS IS GOING ON VACTION. I WLL SURELY KEEP HER IN MY PRAYERS, AND THE FAMILY. CAN'T WAIT TO HEAR WHAT SHE HAS!!! jENNIFER

I was induced with my last baby and this pregancy my doctor has already said he will induce me at 39 weeks. There is no medical reason for it, but I have been in preterm labor and the baby dropped at like 30 weeks so my discomfort level is enormous. So I don't know if he said he would induce me at 39 weeks for that reason. But it does seem weird to me and I hope that everything works out! I understand how irritating and frustrating this must be. I hope your sil can stay comfortable and it all works out, but it always does!
