I had an appt today for my belly button hernia and unfortunately I will need to have surgery but the doc said I can hold off until after my half marathon race in Sept. Wooo Hooo!!! I was really stressing about it!! He said that right now it is still very small and isn't an emergency situation but that it still should be corrected. I can't say that I'm looking forward to the surgery but I am really glad that I can do it on my own timeline!!

I had my gall bladder out three weeks ago and had an umbilical hernia repaired at the same time. I didn't even know that's what it was (I thought it was just another stretch mark at the top of my classic c-section incision) until the surgeon did the exam for the gall bladder.

It was quick and the entire surgery only took about 40 minutes to do both. My recovery was uncomfortable but most of it was the air in my abdomen from the gall bladder and just sensitive at the incision in my belly button. I'm not supposed to lift anything or exercise (which is killing me!) for 4 weeks so I don't re-herniate it.

Good luck!

I had surgery on an umbilical hernia about year and a half ago. It was a very quick outpatient deal. The recovery was easy. I was up and going in 2 days later without the pain pills!!
