I would never steal though. That is just wrong.

Cutting a deal for someone who is buying a good bit of stuff is different than those people who just like to haggle for the sake of it, that can be fun but only to a point. The price might go up if they walk away and come back after a long haggling session just b/c of the time they take up. People often use that as a diversion tactic too. If they've made a mess of my place the first time, I'd rather not sell them anything.

Gosh some of these stories are amazing! LOL

Dh wants them to come back so he can take pictures of them, then tell everyone else who has a yard sale to watch out for them. LOL He is such a nut.

Had a yardsale w/my mil today. She had a Longaberger ceramic piece marked $4 and some woman was trying to get her to lower the price. She said no and I swear the lady said "I can't afford it". I know people who don't have alot will scour sales for clothes and whatnot but why would you even look at Longaberger stuff if you can't afford $4? and this lady claimed to be a collector too!

Wow! I am reading these posts, and I am amazed at how these people treated you! And even stole from you! That's just crazy! I personally love to go to garage sales and find a good deal. That's how I afford a nice christmas for my kids, or just to plain save money. I like to haggle over a price for fun, but I'm never pushy about it. If someone says no, then I consider paying what they are asking. Today I got a brand new horse (on the frame w/ springs) for $15! I thought that was high, but when I asked her if she would take ten, she told me that her house is getting foreclosed on. You never know what's going on w/ the person selling the items. Sorry to hear you have such crazy customers. You did point out a few things that I should consider in asking for a price to come down if it's already reasonable. I thought that most people expect for people to haggle a little.

Yah, I'm always ready to make a deal. One lady came over and wanted some baby clothes and some toys and asked me if I would take $5 for it. I said SURE, its not a problem. If they are curtious, and polite, I don't mind considering the haggle. I had another ask for the baby tub I had priced at $5, if I would take $3. SURE! Just take it. But when I had $10 marked on my WILSON Rabbit fur coat, NO I'm not taking $5 for it sorry. LOL Then she said to me, Well I guess it'll sit in your basement even longer now since you didn't take the $5. Whatever! LOL Don't worry, I'll find someone who will pay $10. I even went as low as $8, but I wasn't taking $5, sorry.
