Just wanted to get opinions on the best places to live and raise a family. I would love to move out of the crazy city into a more simpler life. What do you love/hate about where you are? I am in Michigan where it can be so cold in the winter and driving in it is crazy!

I love where I live but I'm not sure it will help you since I'm a city girl...
Do you want to be close to a city or really get away from all the hustle and bustle?

I live in Auburn, WA and we LOVE it. It is about 20 minutes south of Seattle so we don't live in a big city but we are close enough that we can go there if we want to. The weather is wonderful if you like the rain (which isn't really as bad as they make it out to be). We did have a big snowstorm last winter but that was very strange. My kids are very young so I couldn't tell you about the school systems or anything but so far everything else has been fine for our family. It is also very beautiful here.

Definately! We love where we live...great neighborhoods, great friends...fabulous schools. I can't think of anything that I 'dislike' even!

It depends on the day.
We moved to a town of about 600 people from the Denver area just over a year ago.
I left a job of 40-50 hours a week, a big city and all my family and friends.
I thought I would love it, we live in an area that most people dream of owning a second home.
It's been isolating, very hard to break into the social circles here and become a part of long established groups of people.
The scenery is gorgeous, there are so many outdoor activities here, but summer is only 3 months long if that and winters are bitter cold and so windy we watched our iron patio set and BBQ blow from one side of the porch to the other and off one day. So no fun to get out in.

Small towns are nice, but are a challenge as well.

Hate it, hate it, hate it! We've got to deal with the 3 H's...High crime, Hot weather, and Hurricanes! We stay because DH has a good job that lets him have time off whenever we need it for Tommy, and because Tommy is seeing some of the best specialists in country here. If we moved back to our hometown, (in KY) he would never receive the quality of care he gets here. I'm not willing to take the chance with his life. So we suck it up and deal with it the best we can.

We live in central Fl 1 1/2 hours north of orlando. It is a retirement community and alot of the things here are centered around them... I love our house and land... I like it that in the winter it is 50-60 degrees out, but you settle in for summer here lol

I heard that people who live in Tennessee love it there, can anyone agree with that?

Also, there are not any farmers markets here with apples in the fall and all that good midwestern stuff ( I miss the autumn... )

I am a true Michigander... I love the season changes. I Love the summer, beaches, hiking, picnics, campfires. Spring everything turns green again.. The daffodils and tulips. Fall, football, leaves changing, pumpkin and apple picking.. And WINTER we love the snow and the warm fire and hot chocolate after we come inside.

We live in a VERY rural area, close to the Indiana State line. But love traveling to the 5 great lakes and all the wilderness areas. And the bigger cities for arts, entertainment and dinner..

I have also heard Tennessee is a great place to live. I also agree with staying where you get the best medical care. My daughter has a GREAT neurologist (in Michigan)and I am not sure if I could find another I trust so much.
