I have an appointment at 2pm this afternoon re: that painful spot under my right breast. If you could say a prayer, I'd appreciate it -- I'm concerned, with history of my aunt having breast cancer and my mom having breast issues as well. The nurse was very alarmed that I had waited so long and said they wanted to see me immediately, so I'll have to drive to her further office, but it's important I go. I'll update how it went this evening. ray:

Well, I went. Let's just say it was successful in one way - that the doctor left the office without getting hurt. I drove an hour, waited 35 minutes to be seen, and when the dr came in, she treated me like I was a two year old. Oh, and like I thought I was coming into the office to be diagnosed with cancer or something. I don't know. She was ignorant and rude - she has TERRIBLE bedside manner. The painful spot is UNDER my breast. So what does she do? Has me lay down and does a full breast exam. Um, that's not what hurts. Anyway, she berates me for doing self breast exams wrong, doesn't ask like any questions at all (so I had to talk the whole time trying to explain it) and the whole time she's going "no lumps, no lumps". I never told her I felt any lumps in my breast. I told her that there was a painful spot UNDER my breast and that I thought there was a hard spot under it (the painful spot). She kept going "no lumps no lumps" and then she started drilling me about how old I was. When I replied, she goes "you're too young - you can't have breast cancer at 24" (um, yeah lady, you can) "I'm not giving you mammogram because there no lumps in breast". Okay first of all, I didn't walk in here asking for a mammogram b'c I thought I had breast cancer. I came b'c I thought, after dealing with something that didn't go away on its own for 8 months, I should come get it checked out. She cared not that there is a history of breast cancer in my family and that my aunt got it at a fairly young age. Finally she said "I'll give you a sonogram okay?" like it was a bribe to get me out of her office, and then she left. No "take tylenol and apply heat - if it doesn't go away or less in two weeks come back". No "Let me see if it's an infection and we'll go from there". Nope. Just "stick your tongue into the side of your cheek". Pardon? I looked at her funny until she repeated herself and then she pressed on my cheek (where my tongue was) and goes "that lump". thanks lady. that was worth $15 and 4 hours of my time. I'm SO changing doctors.

That is ridiculous.....you should change doctors
immediately. This doctor should not be in
business.

Don't let her rude treatment of you keep you
from seeing another doctor about this!
If she didn't know what it was, she should
have said as much and referred you to
someone who could diagnose.

Good luck

Grr. New doctor needed. I'd report it to the ins. company, too. I've resorted to that, asking them not to pay, and sending a letter to the dr. after a REAL Dr. did his job as to why the bill wouldn't be paid.

I really hope you get an answer. She is sooo wrong.
