Bringing a kid to a party that has an undefined illness would definately upset me. What were they thinking.

As for the freezer, I know I would be upset, but in all honesty, it was an accident and not really your son's fault. I have had it happen to me too so I understand the mess you are dealing with. Something that worked for me is locking the freezer. I keep the key on top and we lock and unlock it every time we use it.
