I know first hand that only YOU can change your lifestyle. My husband has put on about 10 pounds in the past few months even though he is an avid runner. He is just getting older (42) and needs to change his eating habits. I cook healthy meals, have healthy snacks, so that is not the issue.

But, he is complaining and complaining about it. I have not brought it up at all. I can't control his SNACKING for goodness sake!!! We had a treat the other day. We opened a box of Thin Mints that we had been saving. No big deal. I figured it would last at least 2-3 weeks. We opened them on Thursday. I had ONE, the kids do not like them.

Today, I went to put a couple in his lunch and could not find them. I asked him if he knew where they were. He ate them!!!! He didn't think it was a big deal, but a whole box in four days when you are constantly complaining about your weight??? GIVE ME A BREAK!!!

He is snacking us out of house and home! Even if he snacks on grapes (another favorite), if you eat a ton of them a day, you won't lose any weight.

I didn't say anything because I know my saying something won't change things until he wants to change them, but this is getting so silly! I am to the point of hiding food again in my closet. I have done that before with success.

My pastor always says "dont complain about what you permit" in other words, hes complaining about his weight and what not, then he eats the snacks.

Getting older stinks... I'm a big snacker and could always eat whatever I wanted. Now I gain weight much more easily.

Is dh going through a mid-life thing... does he need a new interest or hobby? Maybe he's in a "bored" period where he's searching for something. I eat/snack more when I'm in a slump. When I'm interested in something or passionate about something I don't have time to snack. Just a thought.

Yeah, he is sort of. Ever since he came home from his Korea business trip, he has not really caught up on sleep as fast as normal. Saturday he was in a "mood". Not bad, he was just agitated and admitted to being a little depressed. He is NEVER depressed so that really surprised me. He talked about it a little, but VERY little.

I think it is his upcoming procedure scheduled for Friday. He is getting the big "V" and I think it is sort of getting to him. I mentioned to him on Saturday that I do not want him to do it if he is going to be depressed about it, but I also think there is more to it than that. I don't know.

He has always been a bigger than average snacker. I have hidden food from him before just so I won't have to go to the grocery store as often.

Hmph, sounds like my house, Claire. I can buy 1/2 gal. of ice cream for myself and it will last me for weeks. My dh can eat a 1/2 gal. of ice cream in just a day or 2! My dh knows he has a weight issue but will do nothing about it. I just don't get it.
