I've got lobsided friggin breasts! I am nursing my 2nd dd and she is 20 mos. old. She nurses about 3x/day and it's mostly both sides at each feeding. So why am I lobsided?
And does anyone know how to fix it?? I plan on weaning around 24-26 mos. but then I'll lose what little breasts I do have! Any suggestions?

breast can be naturally lopsided at any point in a womans life, its normal. It happens with hormones etc. I have been lopsided since I was 13, but its more obvious while breastfeeding because of the extra hormones and milk production.

Also its normal for one side to produce more than the other, causing the extra lopsidedness, it will probably go back to semi normal once you have finished breastfeeding.

This could happen if you start on the same side each time. example. If when she is wanting to nurse, you always start with right side, baby will suck more vigorously, then you move to the left side after awhile, her sucking slows down as baby gets full. This would cause right breast to have more of a milk supply, hope this helps....

My left breast never worked so it always dried up and I could only feed with the right side. Happened with both kids. I was really lopsided for months. I don't think people would really notice unless I was wearing a tight t which I just avoided during that time.

My right produced way less with all three kids, even though I always started with it. It is just slightly smaller than the left normally but it was totally obvious when the left got engorged. The right NEVER got very engorged, even if I hadn't nursed in hours. I don't think there is anything you can do, just one of those weird things. If it makes you feel better, most likely the problem won't be obvious when you are done nursing. No one would ever be able to tell on me.

They're all right. A LOT of women experience this and no one usually notices. As a BF counselor I've heard from loads of women that experienced this. On a positive note, the difference usually becomes less apparent when baby starts solids (and nurses less). So, maybe it will improve before you plan to wean. HTH

I never realized I was lopsided until I started nursing. My babies always preferred my right side over my left side (I don't think the letdown was as strong as the right). In fact with my youngest (she nursed until she was a little over 2 years old) we just totally stopped nursing on the left side for about the last 6 months. After they were weaned then it wasn't as noticeable but they were still lopsided.

I didn't get lopsided until recently (after 9 months of nursing, when I noticed). It's weird, because the milk seemed to flow better from the left breast, but my right one is the one that is always bigger now! I noticed recently though, that my left breast pad is always soaked, and my right breast pad is never soaked. I'm guessing that when my left breast gets full, it just empties itself, and my right one just holds it all waiting until my baby nurses. I think I just make matters worse because I'm always nursing him on that side now, just trying to even them out!

Try nursing at the other breast more. I have the same problem though so you're not alone.

I've got the same issue. My right side is bigger than the left, but the right used to produce less milk even though it was bigger. Then I had to stop breastfeeding on the left side for two months and just pumped the milk out. Now my left side is smaller and produces less milk than the right side. It's only really noticeable when I am full with milk.
