A co-worker's mother died and someone is collecting money to send flowers. How much should I contribute. $5? $10? No suggestion was made.

When they gave me a baby shower, I recieved a $200 gift card, however our group is large.

If you have a large group and you are all contributing, than I think $5 will be enough. I would suggest you mention it to your group. I am sure many of them want to contribute something, and they probably dont know how much to give either. I do not know how large your group is, but say if it is 20 people and everyone pitch in $5, you could get a really nice flower arrangement.

Whatever you feel you should and can give.

Most flower arrangements for funerals, especially those from co-workers, are in the $60 range. If you have a large group and everyone gives $5 you could end up with a really nice arrangement. Do remember, this is the co-worker's mother, not the co-worker. When my dad died he was retired but his retired co-workers sent a flower arrangement to his funeral. None of my co-workers would have done that. Instead a nice note to the co-worker saying (1) her mom must have been a special person to have raised such a nice daughter and (2) offering your condolences at this difficult time is all that you really need to do.

I'd probably give $10...funeral arrangements can be extremely costly.

We had about 15-20 in our office and I usually gave $10 for such an event.

Its about 30 people - I did $5...the woman who is taking it is really nice and I'm sure this is better than nothing. I'm sure his managers will kick a little more in.
