My brain feels as though it might explode. I am trying to locate the most cost effective way to get an eye exam and contacts & glasses for my husband and my self. I will drive almost anywhere in the NC or SC area.

I have been looking into America Best (twopair.com, eye exam & 2 pair of glasses $69), but I'm getting mixed reviews. Has anyone used them before? Was it a good deal?
Any info would be great!

3 out of 4 of us wear corrective lenses in our immediate family and we use an Opthamologist, just because we want an MD for our eyes. We've just never considered an Optometrist for us. The annual exam isn't really that expensive though...you might try getting some price information from a few different eye doctors (or Optomotrists) and see what things cost.

As far as contacts and glasses...my son has two pairs of glasses that he got from I think LensCrafters. He doesn't wear them very often but they weren't very expensive. The frames are pretty cheap, which is fine for our situation since he only uses them for reading or watching tv in the evening. If your Dh needs to wear glasses daily, you might consider getting a more quality product. You really get what you pay for in that aspect IMO. As for contacts, we get all our contacts from 1800Contacts and use their rebates.

I'd be careful with the $69 deal...sounds like there is some fine print and personally I'd wonder about the eye exam but we're very careful about choosing medical professionals. I did a quick google since I'd never hear of America's Best and found a lot of bad reviews. Maybe read up on it a bit, so you can go in with all the info.

Good luck!

HI

Stay away from americs best. I work at an optometrists office, we have a lot of people coming to us for rechecks. I work for an independent doctor inside of Lenscrafters. Kids glasses are always half off. It is actually cheeper that Walmart.

Hope that helps

Sams club just had a special during the month of Sept. not sure when they will run it again. May want ot check Sams club/costco and also len crafters. You might be surprised at len crafters prices- they do have some good deals from time to time.
