I am. But I like them and now will not eat them again (well only if I have to deal with the peel - I think thats where the "poison" is)
I was cutting one up on saturday night and I put the majority of it in a container then I ate what was stuck to the giant seed.
Sunday I felt tingling in the corners of my mouth and then felt a small rash come. I washed it with soap and water and put hydrocortisone on it. Its not a big bad one, thank God!
I just ate a small bit of the mango and I broke out! A long time ago I ate a whole one and I looked like the elephant man.
I told dh to throw it out (he gets home from work before I do and I dont want to even look at it)

I know that its in the same family as poison oak. Its a shame, its a good fruit and I cant eat it. Or else I break out. Im just grateful its a very mild rash. But still its on my face. Im glad its not noticable!

my dh is that way with cirtus... he takes lysine pills before he eats it. But he decribes it as a tingly rash in the corners of his mouth especially...

It's just the sap from the skin of the mango...my Dh will get a rash if he handles a mango and then doesn't wash his hands soon afterwards.

DH is also allergic to the skin of it, but didn't know this until his lips swole up really big one time he ate them....it was a funny sight, but I felt bad because it tingled and hurt a little bit. He learned his lesson though.

I am also allergic - break out in welts. I can eat the insides just fine, but I can't touch the skin. Once my sister touched one and then rubbed her hand on me - to tease me - and I broke out where she touched me.

Are you also allergic to latex?

I know that is one of the food items that if you have an allergy to Mangos, you are more likely to be allergic to latex. (I know it's one of the questions we have to ask with allergies if someone says they are mango allergic).

If not, you may want to have it checked out--in case you would ever need medical stuff done.

No I am not. Ive been to the doctors & dentists and Ive never had a problem with it oh and condoms, no problems there.

I get bad reactions when I get poison oak though, I had it 2 yrs ago, just on 1 big section of my leg. I got it from my son who must have rubbed by it and then gave it to me when he sat on my lap. Yet he didnt break out.
