I just sold a set of dumbbells on Craiglist. The guy came to the house to look at the weights and said he would think about it. He emails me that he will take them on Monday (today). As we are finalizing a time via email he asked if I want him to be here later so I can use them one more time so I can stay cute. I ignore his remark and tell him that the time we agreed on was fine. Then he says that is ok because I don't really need any help being cute. I had my MIL & FIL come over while he was here because I thought it was kinda creepy. He just emails and says my legs and butt are nice and do I workout, he would like to give his wife some advice on shaping up her lower body. He asks if I have any advice since mine is so nice. Can you believe this? I didn't reply to the email.

I'm rethinking posting anything else on Craiglist. I've had great success getting rid of kids stuff and had no problems in the past. I usually have mommies coming over so it usually is no problem.

It's definately weird and inappropriate. I would just do as you keep doing and ignore his emails or maybe block them.

This is pretty weird -- once the transaction was over I would block him and maybe, in the future, think about meeting at neutral places when you're selling things. I hope he doesn't have your home number.

You shouldnt invite strangers to your home. You should have met at a very public place, such as a fast food restaurant or a store.

Yeah, that is weird. I too would have a neutral meeting place for any future transactions with anyone. Also have someone come with you.

when selling anything publicly like that i would never give out my home address, i would only ever meet them in a public space with another person accompanying me. that guy is creepy, i would ignore his emails and if they continue block him.

I was even more paranoid because my husband has been out of town since Thursday. He will be back tonight. I had pepper spray in my back pocket, ready to fire. This was before the butt & legs email. I have the illegal pepper spray that will probably blind someone.

The guy was fine while he was here, he didn't say anything. It is easier to make the comments on email than in person.

I haven't been a fan of the neutral meeting place because I would have to load the kids up and sometimes the people don't show up.

I will definitley be more careful in the future. I hope he stops emailing me!

That is creepy. I agree with the others. I'd never give out my home address for something like that. I'm lucky that DH is the library director here in town, so for the things I've sold on Craigslist, I've just had them go to do the exchange at the library. It is nice & public, plus they're dealing with DH & not me.

I've never had any problems with CL, but you do have to be careful. If you are ever exchanging with men meet at a public place and don't drive straight home. Normally it's only moms I sell to so I let them come over after I speak with them on the phone so I know they are really a mom!
