I like to do this occasionally, and I thought it was about time since we just moved here. I forgot all about it. There are 2 people listed in the park we live in. One had the guys picture posted, and his address. He is just a couple streets over,and my daughters friend lives on that street. I just called her in here to show her his picture. I will be showing my other daughter too. The other guy did not have his picture listed, but his name and address was. It said something like criminal sexual conduct 4th degree.
This is just a reminder for all you moms to check out your neighborhood if you haven't done it in awhile.

It's a good thing to do, but keep in mind, there are a lot of stupid things people do that can land them on the List. If you are a guy that's 21 and your "girlfriend" is 17, her folks get mad, you can get hit with at least a 3rd degree CSC. A lot of "statutory rape" with consenting kids lands the guy on the List as 3rd and 4th CSC, and flashing (ala drunk fests like motorcycle rallies) can land a woman on there for CSC (my friend is on there for that exact reason - dumb!) College towns should be notorious for low degree CSC - how many high school girls want to brag about their college boyfriends, and then have that "in" for drinking parties - until the parents step up?

Make sure to read the charges - 1st and 2nd degree people are the ones to watch out for, along with multiple offenders, the 3rd and 4th one times are the ones that generally did something really stupid and got on there. It doesn't hurt to know your neighbors, but don't get vigilante on them!

(I support the list - I've had an experience that was very not good when I was younger, and the man was landed on the list - for dang good reason. Folks like him need to be outed, folks like my friend who got put on there for flashing the wrong guy at something similar to an Easyriders show do not belong on there).

Also the information can be misleading because cases can be pled out, charges reduced etc I think the list can be informational but it's not really all that helpful. Really, the best way to protect your kids IMO is to educate them, supervise them, know their friends etc

Remember - the baddies had to DO something to be on the list in the first place. Better to educate, then to trust everyone except those on the list, and have someone that you didn't look at be an offender waiting to happen.

Thanks for the reminder. My girlfriend and I looked about five months ago and we couldnt believe the people we recognized. One guy was my girlfriends co-workers dad!!!! It was for a big offense too. That kinda freaked us out.

We have 2 guys a few doors down in our apartment, both for aggravated rape and assault of a minor under 13 or whatever, and they are about 60., both got about 20 years. SCARY!
