Those of you that have a food processor - do you use it? I am thinking about asking for one for Christmas - I have never had one but always wanted one. I know though sometimes I purchase a kitchen item that I think I want and will use, then it sits on the shelf collecting dust. Also what are some of the things you make or do with your processor?

I mainly use it for grating hard cheese (parmesan/romano) so I can put it in the freezer, grating zucchini for zucchini bread, and for making my chilled strawberry soup. I'm sure I could use it for more, but those are the times it occurs to me to use it.

I got mine for a wedding gift 8 years ago, and I've used it maybe 6 times. I find it difficult to clean~with many parts to be cleaned. I also don't have the best kitchen space to keep it out, it's been tucked away and hidden for a loooong time.

I have one of those mini chopper things and use it for everything. I have been tempted to get a food processor, but everybody with one tells me to stick with the mini chopper instead for the same reasons that vtmom mentions.

I have a large food processor I have used a lot, especially for making baby food. I have also used it for making sauces and shredding cheese. I have a small chopper that I think cost $5 at the time, that I use about twice a day for different things (normally for the baby). If you cook a lot I would suggest a nice large food processor, otherwise a small one would work.
