Oh no...

We'd occasionally get mice at our old house and I think, this time of year, they're heading indoors due to the weather getting cooler. We had good luck with plugging up any holes with steel wool (they won't chew thru it). We'd also use dcon when traps didn't work! They would eat the bait off the trap and not set it off. They were crafty little things!

OhhhhNoooooo! I so feel for you. We had them in the old house, and assume it's just a matter of time until they show up in here (we are on a farm, and the kids can NOT learn to shut the door ). They don't bother me so much (in the basement), but IMO there is nothing worse than knowing they are sharing your kitchen with you.

That is one of things I don't miss from the old house. Every winter. And I think they were still there in the summer too, they just hid better. My husband shot one with a bb gun once. I was always afraid to use the dcon because of the dog and the little one. I finally used some last winter, thinking that I would be safe just putting the poison up high, but the mice distributed it througout the house!

Oh, I feel for you. I've had a couple in our new house but I think we got rid of them. You would think with 6 cats it wouldn't be an issue... I have better luck with this mice plug-ins. Our last house we lived in for 4 years and never had a mouse, my cats didn't even know what a mouse was, then on winter #3 a herd moved in! Oh my -- I about had a heartattack! They were on all three floors. The cats ate, or we trapped (yes I use the live traps) about 18 before they were finally gone. I seriously about had a nervous breakdown!

i feel your pain we had a couple over a month ago and got rid of them but we found a whole and filled it with that expanding foam stuff mice won't eat that only rats so at least i know they are just little field mice...so far so good no more yet but my eyes are peeled and i have traps out in the places we have always caught them... the down fall of living in a hundred year old house.

yucko!! Nothing worse than finding out you have mice. I havent had (or at least seen any) for about a month here. The last one I saw, I went out and got dcon right away and than never saw him again. Well, earlier this month when the fridge crapped out on me and I had to get someone to fix it, the mouse was found-behind the fridge and dried out like a piece of jerky! I figure I will just have to keep the dcon ready all winter long. I have it under the kitchen sink (kiddie locked too) and down in the basement in the crawl spaces.

Yes -- it is mouse invasion time (spiders too!)! I opened my pot cupboard two days ago and came face-to-face with one! I just got those DCon traps that look like hockey pucks. I HATE seeing mice splayed out in the traditional traps, so I'm willing to pay the extra to get these!

In our old house there was a hole in the wall that had the outlet in it. This was up high off the floor though. Anyway, the fridge was in front of it. Hubby went to move the fridge and there was a dried out eletrocuted mouse in it. Eeeeeeeeewwwwwwwww.

Tis the season!!

I've got a good mouser cat, and she's gotten two so far. DH doesn't like cats and loves being mean to her - not abusive - but he'll try and scare her and make her run from him.

She pays him back by sticking the dead mice at the foot of his chair, or better, in his boots. I take the cat's side on that one! He freaks out, but he's glad she gets the mice. Sneaky cat!
