I often shop at these to get
gift bags,
office supplies- they have avery labels and envelopes for a lot cheaper than walmart)
holiday stuff- rationed of course... only if its super cute..
cards- birthday, anniversary and such
tissues!!
and some other stuff..

i mentioned this to my mother the other day and she said it was trashy... i asked why should i pay $2.00 for kleenex at walmart when i can get it for $1.00 at the dollar store?

i'm just curious to see what everyone else thinks about these.

I am in love with the dollar store! There are several things I get there that are cheaper than anywhere else. Ours isn't trashy either so that's a bonus.

You mean the stores that everything is a dollar or less? Why not go there to get your gift bags and cards. I love it for that. I do think a lot of things cost more there, but you don't notice it, because it is the dollar stores. You just have to know the prices. Most of the stuff there I wouldn't use for gifts, but sometimes you find a good deal.
Has your mom been there before, maybe you need to drag her in.
I don't buy toys there. Not very good quality.

Also, they are all different, so some have better stuff that others. The 3 that are around here are in a mall or shopping centers, and they are good ones. I have been to one that was probably not a chain, and in an out of the way area, and most of the stuff was useless junk.

I also shop at Dollar Tree and 99 cent stores. But I have to agree with your mom. All those stores in my area are dirty and trashy. I still go because I can get some good deals......but I can see why someone would think they are trashy.

We have a .99 store about 10 mins from here and it's clean all the time.
It's a huge store and they've got clothing, plants, produce, cheese, condiments and anything/everything you need. I don't shop there for food, I've heard of some national recalls w/ dollar stores.
We love going there as a family, we will all find something in the end!

I use the dollar tree for LOTS of things. Kids shampoos and detanglers, cards, gift bags, party stuff and decor (banners) paper plates and pens......I swear I could go on and on. I shop there a lot. The kids like to each buy their already filled mystery "goodie bags" which really are so lame but sometimes they get a few cute items as well as candy and bubble gum.

I shop there too for wrapping paper, school supplies, shower curtains, and even some x-mas ornaments to fill the tree out.

We love the dollar store too. Just know your prices - because just last week I bought light bulbs and streamers and they were less at walmart - Instead of $2 it would of been 1.10 _ I know it's only 90 cents but it adds up.
