Going to get zebra finches

I have the cage all set for 2 birds. Ive never taken care of zebra finches before. I dont want any babies...so Im guessing I need to get 2 female birds.
My son is excited to get these added to our "zoo" as we already have a loner betta and hamster.
Anyone have any tips/advice on these birds? I know the males are the chirpier ones, but do the females make noises as well?
