I'm afraid of the dark, I have been since I was a kid, I have night lights all over and I've darn near blinded myself at night by flipping on a light so I wouldn't have to walk thru the house in the dark!! I also don't care for crowds, but I deal with that one b/c I have to sometimes!! And birds and grasshoppers totally freak me out!!! Yes, I have issues, lol!!

Spiders, roaches, snakes, millipedes(sp), needles, balloons popping (so the mylars don't bother me, just the regular ones) and I'm not fond of flying, but I'll do it to see family. Here's one that I guess would be a phobia: I'm scared that an intruder will break in our house even though we live in a very safe area. I even have nightmares about it. You know the kind where you try to scream and you can't! I close all the windows at night and check the doors 2-3 times at least. I make DH close the bedroom window when he leaves for work in the am. (I don't mind sleeping with an open window as long as dh is between the window and the kids!)

I think as we get older, we see danger in more things than we did when we were young. I loved roller coasters when I was a teenager and young adult, but I wouldn't get on one now!

First, bees. I get goose bumps and I freak out!

Second, claustrophobia.

Third, I used to be agoraphobic. A real one, but mild as cases go. I'm finally on the right meds, so it's not been a problem recently.

That's it!

WOW Ladies....we have quite an assortment here.

Several with the workmen phobia (glad to hear I'm not the only nut!!)

Several afraid of heights and claustrophic!

All maners of bugs, animals, & rodents, etc---beetles, spiders, snakes, mice, ticks, birds , bees & grasshoppers.

Several of the dark
One with needles (probably caused by a crazed brother )
And several of crowds, and one possible agoraphobic (related to crowds).

Any others or more of the same???? Come on and share with us.

SNAKES!! I'm probably about as terrified of them as one person can be. We were recently at an apple festival with our kids and there was a traveling zoo there. Well, low and behold, there were two snakes in a cage, and one of the zoo woners right behind the cage. Well, dd's wanted to go see the snakes, so I let them go and I stood off a ways (dh was gone getting some change for the food pellet machine) and watched them. Sure enough, he takes the snakes out of the cage!! They were right up close to them! I was keeping an eye on them (the kids) at first, but then the little buggers (the snakes) kept wiggling around and all over the guy! I literally was hiding behind a stranger, with tears in my eyes, hair standing up on my arms and neck, and I was having a hard time breathing!! At a packed (with kids AND adults) apple orchard!! Oy!! I was so embarassed, but that fear completely takes over my body!! Thank goodness we don't live in a heavily snake populated area!

Corduroy. I can't stand the stuff. It makes the hair on my arms stand on end when I see it and I feel nauseous when I hear it rubbing... "whisk, whisk, whisk" AAAAHHHHGGGGGHHHH!!!!

Some bugs bother me, too. Cockroaches, maggots, grubworms, and junebugs. Funny, most beetles don't bother me (I love ladybugs!) but junebugs just freak me out.

okay, I totally forgot this because I try to avoid it whenever possible. I think it has to be the weirdest yet, so I'm a little embarassed but here it goes! It's those cans of biscuits and such that you peel the paper and they pop open. I HATE those! God forbid the can doesn't pop and I have to wack it on the counter or something! I don't know what it is. Maybe the anticipation of not knowing when it's gonna pop and then the sound plus seeing the dough ooze out of the crack. I know it's crazy!

These are in order of worst fear to manageable!

1. FEET
2. claustophobia
3. sleeping with the closet doors open
4. leaving my children with a babysitter for the first time (it's awful!)

Oh, the biscuit cans! I'm there with you...hate them! Wish they would come up with a better way. I have dh open them for me as he's laughing at me.

I have definitely noticed that as I have gotten over 30 and have had kids that I have an increase in phobias. Fear of dying, fear of my kids being taking away and definitely fear of heights -- I never use to have a fear of heights. Maybe my equillibrium is off!
