Now I need to find a new job or wait for the envelope company to need help again. I would not mind doing some sitting but I think I will put that on hold.

Hoping to find something that will work with our goofy schedules and not need to find daycare as well.

I am still thrilled to be out of there.

wait! you put in your 2 week notice and then she fired you!?! is that even legal?? is it something you would fight?
the same thing happened to me and i fought it. the business is now out of business (not cause of me but because of poor management).

If you had put in your two weeks' notice, and then they let you go early, they should pay you for the two weeks. I'm not sure if they "have" to, though - you can check with your labor board. It is accepted practice, however.
