First, thanks for the prayers. It was not a good visit. They came over for a cookout. When they got here she was in a bad mood. It was just unpleasant. She didn't even try to hug me when she left, but shook my hand!

So, the first thing she says to me after getting here is, "Where are my keys?" I had NO idea what she was talking about. Dh was standing there and told me she said she gave me an extra key to their lock (not their HOUSE mind you, but a stinking LOCK!) that was on their storage place when they had it. I said, "No, I would have refused them because I don't want extra keys. I would have told you to give them to your son." He agreed that he would not have wanted them either, but I would have wanted him to have them. I took her to where our extra keys were and they were not there. She said I put them on a piece of paper and taped them to the paper and put them in a basket. I don't have a basket or anything like that. I looked through my junk drawer and found something else that was missing, but no keys. So, she is ticked. They still have a key to the lock, just not the second one. I will BUY them a new lock, for goodness sake. She was going nuts. My fil looked ticked, too. Dh was doing pretty good at sticking up for me. And, honestly, she should have been accusing him, but, nooooo, she was accusing me! Even he said he would be more likely to have it.

She kept mentioning it throughout the afternoon. Dh finally tells her to leave me alone and he will buy her a new lock, but she apparently is emotionally attached to this lock for some reason or made it sound so. (I know they went to Lowe's and bought one because we had to wait for them to get it before we could leave.) Then she mentions that we didn't want the keys anyways. So, why give them to us (if you did) if we tell you we don't want them???? When they were moving stuff to the storage place, it was hotter than Hades and everybody was miserable. I don't remember getting the keys, but she is convinced she gave them to us. Dh told her she could have given him $100 at that time and he was so hot and tired he would not have remembered it.

She is just so weird! I am glad dh stood up for me.

I don't think I would have let her leave, before going out and buying another one for her and putting it where the sun doesn't shine!!!!! For goodness sakes, why doesn't she just make a mountain out of a molehill. Tell her that since she is so attached to that lock that you will get her a new one and bury the old one with her when she passes.
