Some friends and I are putting together a care package for a female friend who is stationed in Kuwait. Does anyone have suggestions for what to include?

We have a military family support group in our community and they were collecting stuff for care packages the last couple weekends, the things we chose from their suggested list were eye drops, microwave popcorn, and single serve instant coffee & hot chocolate. HTH!

I just finished heading up this effort for my dh's squadron. Here are some of the things we collected to send over that the troops requested (basic necessities):

beef jerky and other non perishable snacks (nuts, sunflower seeds, pringles, etc)
DVDs and entertainment: deck of cards, hand held games, (think Target's $7.99 selection)
eye drops (for those serving in the dry desert)
tampons and maxi pads (don't forget our female heros!!)
hand wipes (again for the desert)
$1.00 journals (found at the dollar tree and dollar general)
toothpaste
shaving cream
showering gel (for both males and females)
deoderant (male and female)
nail clippers, nail files
prepaid long distance international phone cards ~ This is a big request
disposable razors (male and female)
YOUR PRAYERS

I know they also like those little travel packs of baby wipes for when they can't get to a shower, so they can use them to "freshen up" a bit. I had a person for a while I shipped stuff too (then I couldn't find him anymore) and I also sent copies of magazines I thought people would like such as sports mags (since I knew mine was a guy) or I guess you could also send mags appropriate for girls. I sent lots of "travel sized" toiletries like deodorant, etc. also. HTH

I agree with everything everyone has said so far - I think basic toiletries are the most appreciative, but how about pre-paid envelopes and some stationery? I wonder how hard it is to find stamps, etc. over there.

Or maybe disposable cameras? They can send them home to be developed, and their families will then have photos of them.

Just my $.02...

When my brother-in-law was in Iraq, we sent him a lot of basics: white tube socks, chap stick, fruit leather, toothpaste and toothbrush, t-shirt from our state, local made foods (that they could not get there) but make sure you seal them a lot (I would triple bag them), dvds to watch, cds to listen to, paperback books.
