My step daughter will be 7 this weekend (my dd will be 20 on the same day) anyway I have got to figure some thing out with the food. What to serve, not sure how many will be there. I know short notice but I have been busy. My SIL has these big elaborate parties for her kids and I always feel they think I don't do enough for my step dd. My sil's MIL did give me all the stuff for the party Hannah Montana everything, tablecloth, cups plates party bags stuff for them, invitations and thankyous--FREE!!!! So I just need food ideas. Help Please. I don't want to look like the wicked stepmom here.

What about buying those mini round pita bread type thingies (LOL sorry can't think of what they're called!) and letting the kids make their own mini pizzas? It'd be food and an activity all rolled into one.

Mini pizzas are a good idea, you can do them on english muffins too.
Also, having them decorate a cupcake goes over big. You just need to make some, have white frosting in a can and a few sprinkles, m&m's etc. Use food coloring to let them make the frosting whatever color they want.
Other than that, the usual kid party food-fruit punch, cheetos, etc.

We make mini pizzas with english muffins all the time. I can fit an entire package of them on a large cookie sheet and broil just until the cheese melts.

Some easy snacks:

popcorn
apple wedges (dip in orange juice to prevent browning) with peanut butter, if you like
carrots
salad
pretzels
mini peanut butter and jelly sandwiches
cheese cubes and crackers
quesadilla wedges

I also think cupcakes are a good idea.
