I am going to have a lady I know that is a single mom and lives with her mom come help me clean my house for 2 hours one day. She is not a professional housekeeper but helps her mom keep her place up.

She is cleaning some homes to make $$$ to get her kids some presents. She will be helping me for 2 hours and not cleaning my full home. How much would you say is a reasonable amount to pay her for 2 hours work?

If you get help please help me out...I might throw a little extra her way but want to let her know which is the reasonable amount and which is the little extra due to the holidays...in case I decide to use her once a month.

Thanks

Jen

If I had one of my friends do this - I would give them 20.00 for the two hours.

I don't know what the rate is or anything - I just feel like 20.00 is a good amount for a Friends help.

She is not really a friend. I got to know her mom and her from picking up multiple Freecycle items from their home and chit chating with them.

$10 an hour is a good price for cleaning. Company's and professionals charge much more than that!

I'll ask what she thinks of $20-25 for 2 hours. I guess my perspective is off since my hubby makes about $42 an hour before taxes.

I also told her I will pick up each of her kids a small gift for Christmas since I know she is on hard times. She has a hard time keeping a job because she has a very hard to manage form of bipolar disorder.

It honestly depends on what your going to have her clean. Like is she going to do bathrooms that need a really good deep scrubbing or cleaning and straightening a room meaning organizing washing walls windows baseboards stuff like that. Or is your home already a clean home and you just need some help dusting and vaccuming? If its deep cleaning I would say 50$ if its light cleaning then yeah 20$ is a good amount.

She is not really a friend

I should've said Friend or acquaintance.

I would Feel Cheap giving anything less then 20.00 - Especially if she was trying to make money for her Daughter -
That is just my feelings of course.

I will not ask someone for help unless I am prepared to pay decent. I personally have a hard time doing it.

Thanks guys. This is what I am going to have her do

- mop kitchen floor and scrub grout where needed
- give the bathroom a good scrub down
- help me vac off the stairs
- wipe down door fronts of kitchen cupboards
- vac and dust the down stairs if she has time (if not I can do this)
- maybe help me clean the floors in my bedroom (vac and mop)

She is going to be using all of our cleaning products and supplies.

Maybe I'll pay her $30. I am so looking forward to this...I have not had a really clean home since I had the baby...plus I have had no help my DH is away on business for 2 weeks.

I don't know how much work there is to it, but I would pay her $40 if it's a one-time deal. I used to pay a professional company $80 for 2 hours twice a month.
