My dd is 5 and gets them all the time (one of dh traits) WE use to spend the big $ to by the junior oral jel, but then in a pinch she had to use his and had no problems.. We buy the walmart brand (equate) It works just fine.. We let her put it on herself. She knows when its hurting..

We don't know what causes dd's, dh gets his from citrus.

Pour peroxide on it or have her swish/spit it. Then dry off the spot if possible. (Dab with clean cloth) Use Glyoxide. It's peroxide based. It'll foam up, sting like a bear for a couple minutes and then when she spits, she won't feel a thing. It's more than worth the two minutes of discomfort for the hours of relief. This is the only stuff that works for me when I get a really bad one. The last one I managed to take care of with Glyoxide, but the one before that I ended up in the hospital b'c I couldn't eat or drink with it so bad.

cream of tartar powder put on it will clear it right up. You can get it in the baking section at the grocery store. It tastes really sour but works wonders over night.

I get them and oooooh they are painful. I use a prescription product on them that works well. I have heard of mixing a few things togehter (I can't recall the formula but I think it was Benadryl and pepto with something else. You can probabably find it on the net) to put on it. Poor thing. I hope she gets relief soon.

I use straight Listerine (the original amber stuff) and swish but I can't imagine a child doing this, it hurts so bad. But I feel keeping it 'clean' with mouthwash really helps.
