I'm not American so I ask with genuine curiosity .. I've been watching American news and seeing the posts on here got me thinking.

Do you (or do people in general) generally vote for the person or the party? Or do you change much from one party to the next over your life as you vote?

(Parties mean very little here. There isn't much difference. Here we vote for the person. I've voted all sorts of parties. It depends on who the person is but I get the impression it's different there.)

Both. It would take alot to get me to vote Republican, but it has happened in the past (I know, I just shocked some people ). I give people the benefit of the doubt much more when they are not republican, but I do look at the individuals.

I deifnitely consider the cadidates in my party first when researching their views, etc. However, I believe that to be a well informed voter, it is good to know all sides, even if reading it makes you mad So, I read a lot about everyone involved.

There are certain issues I feel strongly about and that tends to gravitate me toward the more liberal candidates, I know I would never suddenly vote conservative no matter what official "party" they are. (since there are different kinds of conservative-financial, religious, views on military action, etc, often you find conservative viewpoints in the two main parties)

I vote for the person, usually. There are times when I don't know everyone on the ballot. And in that case I usually go for my party. As I get order, I try not to do that one as much and I attempt to educate myself on what I'm voting for but someone always seems to sneak past me here and there!
