my hub hunts almost everything. and we have the dead animal masoleum in my house to prove it!

when we lived in WI i was ok with it since it was more accepted and it was our first place and a bit shabby.

now that we're in a nicer home and hunting is not a big thing out here (plus it gives me the creeps) i limit his dead heads to his office. he can hang whatever whereever but thats it.

esshhh!

I guess I have a different opinion again. It doesn't bother me one bit probably because I grew up in a family that has always hunted. We don't have any in our home but my parents have one in their house and not only a deer mount, but a fox as well and it is amazing. A friend of our has a lodge where he conducts occasional hunts. The place is done up with all kinds of mounts. Not tacky at all because that is the theme.
You have to understand that hunting is a sport so the antlers are the trophy. It like an athlete displaying his sports trophy's.

It wouldn't bother me, but I doubt the hubster would ever hang up something like that. He's much pickier about how we decorate than I am. When I met him I was still tearing posters out of rock magazines and using them to paper my walls.

My husband loves to bow hunt, usually for boars. A few years ago he got a couple of really big hogs and brought them home (to our suburban apartment) to make sausage. He ended up keeping the skulls, which kind of freaked out our maintenance guys. He also tanned some of the hide to make a little bag. The sausage was delicious... I ended up eating most of it. The boar skulls are now in the garage and his little bag is in his bow case.

My dh doesn't hunt..........that would require getting off the couch on a weekend morning!
Probably a good thing that he doesn't, because if he insisted on hanging deer heads in the house it would be too much temptation for me to mess with them just to tick him off. Ya know, like decorating them for the holidays: Easter bunny ears on Easter, Santa hat during Christmas, maybe sunglasses, staw hat and a Hawaiian lei during summer. Maybe a wig and lipstick on Valentines day. LOL.

Ok that is too funny! My mom use to do that with my dads deer! And he would hate it because he didn't want it to get ruined!

You crack me up!! I can picture it now: a deer head with bunny ears. How funny!

I do not like the idea of animal heads on display. I am okay with hunting ONLY if it is to feed your family. Killing for sport is wrong (imo). And displaying them seems wrong to me too. Also gross. I couldn't look at those eyes. It would be too sad for me. And like someone else said, you wouldn't hang a family members head to remember them!

Ummm... we do decorate out deer heads. Currently, they have Christmas ornaments and scarves. They are about to get Valentine heart cut outs hung from their antlers. They wear the bunny ears, too. And, don't forget Halloween. On New Year's Eve, they get a hat and a noise maker. They are in our basement and it's an outdoors theme down there so it isn't tacky, just comical.

That is too funny. My kids would get a kick out of seeing that. They always want to dress the dogs and guenia pig up for everything.

This is almost enough to make me WANT a deer head on my wall. That sounds very entertaining But I did say "almost".
