OK, my dd is 7, and she has FINALLY mentioned wanting to get her ears pierced. My dilemma - where do I take her? Her ped doesn't do it, and I am terrified to take her to someplace like Claire's where some college student might poke uneven holes in her ears, or worse! DD wants to do it, but she is terrified, and I don't want some nitwit scaring her further! What do I do?!?

OMG...my dd had her ears pierced when she was a newborn!
I feel bad!
Is that bad?
LOL.
Well anywho - my dd's pediatrician did it, I just had to take the earings.
Lots of places do it, like Claire's and WalMart even.
Good luck!

If you want to take her somewhere that is clean, sanitary, where the people are well-trained and not just some shop clerk like at Claire's or WalMart, go to a tattoo parlor. When DH decided to get his ear pierced, that's what we did, and it was very professional & inexpensive. My sister's ears had closed shut & needed to get them repierced, so her daughter (who has about 12 piercings) took her to a tattoo parlor. My sister if 54. She said they did a great job.

My DD had hers done around the age of 6 or 7, too. I am such a geek and actually researched the different types of guns, etc. I ended up taking her to a place in our mall called Piercing Pagoda. The gal that did it was wonderful. My DD didn't cry and said it didn't hurt, just kinda pinched and then was fine. We went on a weeknight when it was less busy and the girl took the time to really demonstrate how to clean the ears, etc.

My son wanted his ear pierced. I took him to Claires at the mall. I too have gotten my ears pierced at Claires with no problems.

Both of my girls had their ears pierced at Claires and I had my second ones done there also. We had it all done at different times...different people...and every time it was fine. Both of my girls had their ears done when they turned 11 and the girls that worked there were great. My youngest cried and they didn't pierce her ears until she was ready.

Hope that helps...

I was in 6th grade when I had mine done at the mall. I passed out about 3 minutes after it was all over. The piercing place had no idea what to do with me so a bunch of people carried me over to the Coney and splashed water on me. That was about 10 stores away. Of course, I turned out to be terribly allergic so I wear clips now anyway!

I've always used Piercing Pagoda ( 5 through-out the years for myself and once for DD a year ago). I have never had a problem and never had a problem with DD's either.

The 1st time we took DD ( it took 3 tries for her to get her nerve up to follow through ) they let her "pierce" the stuffed Dog's ears with the 'gun' before she had hers done.
