We just got our gas bill for Dec 10-Jan 10th and it was $287. Includes heat, stove and dryer (everything else is electric). I am just curious what everyone has been paying for heat? I am thinking that my bill is not so bad (???). I live in NE with bitter temps at night and record snow for month of Dec.

Sorry, to you Southerners - I don't think I can take hearing what your COOLING bills might be while we are up here FREEZING!!! LOL!!!

We are on equalized payments but it recently went up to $119 a month just for the gas and we don't even have a gas stove or dryer .. it's just to heat the house and the water heater!

That's nearly $1500 a year!!!!!

we don't have gas, but our electric bill is always around $130 no matter the season.

Our bill comes gas/elctric together. Our bill last month was $180ish. My goal is to keep it under $200 a month. We have a nearly 2000 square foot home. It is split level, so not fun to try to to heat, and we have 5 people using up energy.

I live in Wisconsin so the winter bill is always worse than the summer. For me at least!

Last month was a 35 day billing period. And I paid $323 for gas and electric. Highest all year! I even have heat at 67 durign day and 65 at night! It was cold December for us here tho!

In the summer if I leave ac off I can get bill to $50. So big difference!

We have propane for heat. I had a fill done the beginning of November - $700. Another fill I think the end of December? That went up to almost $800. We are at 40% right now, so probably another fill, possibly two before winter is done, depending on how long Mother Nature holds out on us. Our big problem is the pretty much non-insulated walls. I think we want to save up and insulate, Tyvek and re-side the house. Then we can do windows. DH had a heatloss check done, and it shows most of the heat loss is through the walls.

Electric runs about $100 a month here, winter we had the humidifiers running, and summer the window AC at night. I think a big drain is our cruddy fridge that has a giant gap and needs to be replaced.

Gotta love old farm houses Gives us something to work on for the rest of our lives LOL!

I totally agree This is exactly us!

We use fuel oil for our heat. We are in S.Central MN ~ also in an old farmhouse. We use on average 200 gal of oil a month - I have so far bought 550 gal = $1814 total this winter. I am hoping that we can get by with only 2 more fill ups this winter. If so that should bring our heating bill to approx $3154 for Oct - Apr. I am sooo thankful that it's been a warmer winter for us. Last year it was considerably less due to the lower cost of oil.

Our electric bill averages about $90/month in the winter (everything else except water heater).

Our propane which only runs our water heater = $ 300/yr depending on propane prices

We only have electric and our bill year round averages around $130-150. Sometimes a little higher when it's really hot or cold and sometimes a little less when the weather is really nice. I live in NC and it can and does get cold here - maybe not like other areas of the country, but it does get cold. Then the heat we have to put with in the summer . . .

This is our first year in a house. We always rented where heat was included and let me tell you it was a shock!

At the beginning of winter I had the heat set at 72-73 degrees. Well after the first bill came it went down to 67! The first bill gas and electric was about $280 and it went down to $230 the next one. We will see what the next few months bring.
