I bought peaches last night at the store on sale and I am making freezer peach jam. It's my first attempt, ever, so I hope it turns out good. I am getting a deep freeze today and I am excited to stock up and have more room to put stuff.

MMmmm! Sounds yummy. I made strawberry jam for the first time this year it was a little too runny. But I hope yours turns out great.

If it doesn't turn out, don't be dismayed. It can still be used over icecream, pancakes, angel food cake, cheese cake etc. I know because mine didn't really turn out so well. A couple batches I've decided to call peach spread because it's not quite as thick as jam but not as runny as a topping. It tastes great on toast! I hope yours turns out better than mine. If it does turn out well, let me know what kind of pectin you used! :D

I hope it sets up too. I won't be too upset if it doesn't because I plan on making a bunch of freezer pancakes too. We'll just use it as syrup.
I just finished the first batch and got 9 - 12 oz containers. I have one more to go. I only bought 13lbs of peaches. I also bought a case of peanut butter on sale last night. I hope my jam is kinda thick because we need to eat PB&J's for the next year.
I am getting a 1/2 cow in a couple weeks. My deep freeze will be pretty stocked.

It turned out thicker than syrup, but not as thick as jam. But it sure does taste good. I am pretty happy with it for my first attempt at making it. I got my freezer last night and it's plugged in and stocked with Peach Jam so far. I have chicken in my kitchen freezer to be moved out to the chest freezer and we are getting some beef soon. I am so excited!

I'm happy it turned out! Feels nice to be suzie homemaker sometimes, doesn' t it? Is it necessary to freeze jam? I thought it was fine stored in a cool dark place?

I didn't can it. I just put in in plastic containers. So it should be kept in the freezer.
