Jared has done it again. How he does these things I just don't know. He got his ear infection medicine out of the top of the fridge got the child proof top off and drunk the rest of the bottle(about 3/4 of it was left). (amoxycillin spelling wrong) I keep calling the dr but they are out for lunch won't be back for almost 2 hours, so what do I do? Will he be fine or do I need to do something? Yes he's acting fine, said it tasted good and he didn't want to wait till tonight for more...ugh will be so glad when he is out of his 2 stage... Anyway now I guess I'm gonna have to get a new prescription for him since he's only been on it for 2 days....

You need to call poison control NOW, or on second thought, head to the ER immdediately. I just googled it, and this is what I found:

Symptoms of Amoxicillin overdose may include short breath, diarrhea, nausea, stomach cramps, and vomiting.

If you suspect an Amoxicillin overdose, seek medical attention right away.

Poison Control's Phone Number: 1-800-222-1222

From what I read, though, you are best to head straight to the ER. They will probably pump his stomach, as this CAN cause renal failure. Please don't let him just appear to be fine. I am scared for you!!!

I totally agree with Jen -- you need to get help now. 3/4 of a bottle of any kind of medicine is too much for a two year old to take. Get him in the car and go now. I am not trying to scare you but I don't want you to wait too long. Go now!!!! And please, please let us know what happens. My thoughts are with you.

thanks everyone. I was actually on HOLD with poison control when I typed the thread. I was getting the kids ready and ready to go when I got Jennifer's response. Thanks! You were quicker than PC, I finally just hung up with them and was going to drive to ER, but that is 20 mins away and our dr is only 5 mins away so i drove over there. They said he'd be fine just to expect alot of diarrhea and to call back later and they'd see if he needed another prescription. We are home he is still fine, no diarrhea yet....
Thanks for your quickness Jennifer!

I hope he does alright tonight! He'll be in my thoughts! I know how sneaky Sydni is right now and I can only imagine how she will be in a few years!

Give him lots of yogurt (make sure it's the kind with a certified live culture in it) and hopefully that will help his GI track a little.... poor guy. Poison control is the best place to call first (they usually can get you the info much quicker than the dr's office)
