Okay I am not much on sports and for years (many, many years) everytime we were invited to Superbowl party I went. Even though I don't like football. And every year I would sit there watching the clock wishing and hoping for it to end soon.

So fastforward about 15 years. Mind you these are good friends that invite us to these parties. And she likes football as much as the guys so it isn't like we sit there and talk. So I took a book one year. And dh thought that was just terrible. So the next year I didn't go. And for the last few years I haven't gone and we argue because he says I am being rude.

Do you think I should go and be miserable? or stay home and enjoy the peace and quiet and do what I want?

Well, since clearly you are not interested in the game or the party itself, I'd stay home.

I don't watch football, but I do watch the superbowl, but, I only watch the pregame show, the commercials and half time, lol!!

If they're good friends of yours and dh wants you to go and socialize, I would go. It's just a few hours and I'm sure you do get a chance to also talk as there are lots of timeouts and commercials and halftime. It's a few hours of your life...not much to ask.

I don't think it's rude to not go. When someone invites you over you can say yes or no. It's not rude to say NO to an invite. I say stay home and enjoy the peace and quiet. It would be different if your friend sat and talked to you and wasn't interested in the game. That could be fun. But she isn't interested in chit chat during the game.

Stay home and enjoy.

If it's a good friend, I would think she would be fine with you staying home. She knows you don't like football, but she probably thinks it would be rude not to invite you and give you the option. I personally might go for all the snacks, but time alone at home is a blessing too.

We go to SuperBowl Parties, almost every year, and Dh and I never watch the game (no interest on our part)! LOL! Maybe the parties we go to are different, but typically there are a few people watching the game, and the rest of the folks are eating, talking and having a great time. I would probably go, but that's me.

I totally agree with this!!! But I might talk to her too, especially since she is your friend.

Thank heavens dh isn't a sports fan or we'd be in serious trouble! We did go to a football party (college) a few months ago and I do admit - it was horrible and I was definitely bored and felt my precious free time wasted. But I went for dh, he wanted to go. He asks for so little, I went to please him. But thank God I don't have to endure it more than once or twice a year.

I say if it were only once or twice a year and dh wants you there, I'd go. If it is all the time, I'd pick and choose one or two times a year to go to. I wouldn't bring a book, though, I have to agree with your dh, that is rude. It would be much better to stay home IMO if you are going to do that.

Tomorrow we're going bowling ( I'm not much on that either but ds, 6, loves to go and since it's CHEAP tomorrow - they want to get people in - we'll go for two games, I told dh I'm not up for more than that). Then, we're going to the library
