Tommy saw his ENT and speech therapy Friday. It was determined that he needs to get over the fear of food going into his mouth before we can teach him to swallow. So we got out the blueberry baby food for some playtime! I have video on my blog in my signature.
His heart cath is Wednesday morning. Pray for low lung pressures so he can have his repair.
Feb. 7-14 is Congenital Heart Defect Awareness Day. Please, while you're at my blog, read some of my posts about awareness. You could be saving your child's life. If the statistics say that 1 in 125 babies will have a heart defect, and there are over 3000 members here with most having at least one child....I know I have come across 2 other moms with heart kids here. How many more are out there? How many more will go undiagnosed at birth because they "look" healthy?
Ask that your child be screen for CHD. NOT just listening with a stethescope. Ask for a pulse/ox screening 36 hours after birth and blood pressure checked in all four limbs. Any doctor that dismisses your fears has no business being your doctor. Fire them and request a new doctor. It can save your child's life!
