I know this has been discussed before, but I never read with much interest because it didn't affect my kids,,,, until now. My son has SEVERE eczema behind his ears, one is so bad it is cracked & crusted. I have some cetaphil that I used today. Does hydrocortizone work? What do you ladies use??

I've been told it's yeast related and I am full of it such as toenail fungus, yeast infections and itchy scaley elbows that now has traveled to the palm of my hand. So I used to take yeast control by kirkman labs, but I can't take it while nursing so I take acidophilus for it. it's called culturelle from culturelle.com and I take it 3x/day sometimes more if it's flared up and it really helps. I was also told to get a food allergy test and see what I am eating that could be related to the cause. (Thus treating the CAUSE, not the symptoms). hth!!

DD also had some really bad spots when she was younger. Our Dr. also recommended over the counter meds like cortaid. He said the prescription creams were too strong for her. The spots cleared up quickly and so far haven't come back (it's been almost a year).

I dont use a cortosone cream on Conor he uses Rescue Remedy as soon as an outbreak occurs

I try to treat it preventatively

using vinegar in the clothes wash is a great help instead of standard fabric conditioner

eliminating dairy products from the diet works too

very gentle hair shampoo too

hope it clears up for the little man soon

We have used Eucerin otc lotion successfully with my boys. My grand son had a prescription for Elidel and it cleared him right up.

I use aquaphor that is made by eucerin and then when my dd seems to be itching it a lot I use the calming creme. My 9 month old has it and it can get prety bad but so far those 2 lotions seem to work for us.

My ds used to have it pretty bad and Aquaphor definately worked the best. It's more pricey, but definately worth his comfort. We also used Aveno Baby oatmeal bath, and then put the aquaphor on right after we pat him dry. That worked the best at night. We also had good luck with Aveno baby's moisturizing soothing cream when the breakouts weren't real bad.
