The other day a girlfriend dropped in for coffee. I'm totally cool with that - glad she did.

This is a girlfriend who I used to see almost every day. However, our kids are getting older and they are in different schools now so I don't get to see her as often. Still, she and I talk on the phone on a regular basis.

After she left I realized our conversation was so much deeper than when we just talk on the phone. She could see things in my house that would trigger a topic - things I would never think to mention on the phone (like DD's gingerbread house.) Anyway, it made me realize that you really never know someone until you have been in their home.

that is so true!!

i was just thinking about this.

i am still friends with this girl from high school. she has twin 2 year old girls. i don't have kids yet. and its so funny. you come to my house and you can tell DH and I live there. there is clutter and cereal bowls in the sink and you go to her house and it looks like a show house. they don't even live there!! they eat out for EVERY meal.. when he's at work she's at her moms. they are in the middle of talking about a divorce. i know this is bad, but i when i think that i need to be a better housekeeper or whatever i think of her and and glad the DH and i take the time for each other and like to be at home together, in our messy house

sorry.. kinda went off subject...

I agree with you, Cookie. That's why I feels it's a privilege to be invited into someone's home, and why I don't answer my door to strangers and am careful about who I have in my home.

And chevychick, I like to go out to eat, but for each meal it would get so tiring, not to think expensive! They must be uncomfortable in their own home, huh? No intimacy.

I have a friend since grade school, that honestly when she comes over I cringed. Because she wants to know how much everything cost and when/where I got it!

She even asked me about some med. that was in the cabinet

And then she wants to know how I can keep my house so clean, DUH i clean it everyday, that's how!
