Ok so I said I stay out of heated discussions but I am still on the fence as to who to vote for. My MIL keeps sending me emails that he is the anti christ, I watched The View and they say he is awesome and awesome. Today I was in the store and a man was in there telling everyone that Obama was going to bring on the end of the world and the coming of Christ! The man kept saying he will bring the world to an end, he says the bible says the anti christ will come and we can't vote for him. I was a bit shocked, ok so if the bible says its gonna happen and the bible is true then won't it happen anyway? I am so confused. That is why I don't vote half the time. I don't want a heated fight here, I just wanted to know if anyone had any real info on the matter, so maybe I can decide who is the best to vote for.

omg where is their evidence? Why do they think this? His hair is cut pretty darn short and try as I might i can't see any horns there! Last time I saw a speech his eyes weren't glowing red and his voice wasn't demonic. Then again the anti christ is meant to be pleasing to the eye.....
Personally I don't think he is the anti christ that is just being ridiculous, however, I don't trust him, it is just something about him. Something in his eyes I just can't quite believe (maybe they are glowing after all.... . At least with Hilary, she has been there, you know she can make ballsy decisions and yet have a bit of compasion too. I also think she will do very good for the economy. I haven't seen anything over here on Obama's stance on your economy can anyone enlighten me?

Well I'll say neither of those extremes are true. He certainly isn't going to bring on the end of the world and isn't the anti-Christ or whatever those people say. But he also isn't "awesome". What he is is a VERY VERY charismatic relatively inexperienced politician. I think many people are drawn to him because he is so charismatic (even I think he's very charismatic), but charisma isn't really a qualificiation for a job as important as president. What I've heard most people (such as his democratic opponents) complain about is that he really doesn't put forth what his policies would be. My dd was telling me she read an article in Time magazine where they were showing all the candidates positions on different topics, and he had few definite position. So I think people just like "him" not necessarily his policies.
Tonight on TV I heard they just came out with the "liberal" rating of senators, and of the 100 senators he was #1. He was even more liberal than the SOCIALIST who is currently a senator. I was stunned by that. I never realized he was THAT liberal. Hillary Clinton was only #14 or #16 or somewhere around there, so I guess she's much more moderate than him, which scared me. I had been thinking that if a democrat is probably going to win I'd rather it be Obama than Clinton, but now I don't think so.
So that's my opinion.
Edited to add: Okay, I just checked online and Clinton was #16 this year.

Hmm- I can't give good advice on this since I really don't know where he stands besides that it is a time for change - no offense anyone- that is all I ever hear coming out- maybe if I actually sit through a debate (without a cat fight between him and Clinton)- I can get a better understanding of him. I know that a while ago there was a post about a website that asks you questions on topics and it shows you who best fits you- Edwards was my #1 ( - he still is!), Clinton was #2 and Obama was #3. I just caught a snipit on CNN tonight (with political analysists) about why they believe that Obama has a lead over Clinton- they said the premesis of her defense against Obama is that she has experience which in the mind of the voter means the same ol' politics and when Obama talks about change- that is what the voters what to hear. I don't know. But I feel Bill Clinton would be a better First Lady than Michele Obama- (could not resist to say that- no offense was meant with that!)- on that note, I don't know what to think of her, I will say I took offense when she said that this would be his only time/chance to run for President- to me that is not being really supportive- KWIM? Even though I don't go by what their spouses are like!
BTW- I received one of those emails from my MIL- it really made me sick to my stomache. I had to research it- I think the email was actually posted on snopes.com ( I believe that is the website) and they disected that nasty email and proved it wrong. I was mean too- you are able to send those things to people- I sent that article to my MIL (since then I have not received a political email! Now if I can just stop those chain emails !).

I'm not sure about Obama, however, if someone told me he was the anti-Christ I would not be taking their opinions to heart when I went to vote.

Well, I wouldn't be taking any political advice from people ranting about an anti-christ. That's just nuts. He was very successful in Illinois and is well-liked by the constituents he represented there. I agree w/ Aliadam that he is EXTREMELY charismatic and likeable, and there is nothing wrong with that. I mean, that could be helpful in diplomatic relations. I do wish he had a few more years experience on the national political scene before running but, then again, our last few presidents were governors, so they were not on the national level at all. I liked Edwards. Unless Clinton or Obama decides to run as an independent, I'm not worried about the differences between them. They agree on many issues. My right to vote my opinion in the primary was taken from me (Michigan) so I just have to wait to see who the candidate will be. Luckily, I do like a lot about McCain too (not as much as I did in 2000, but hey). He seems like he will be so much more effective than who we've had, that I won't have a problem if he's elected either.

I think it's pretty ridiculous to call Obama the anti-Christ. But, everyone is entitled to their opinion. I just don't happen to agree with that at all. What's with everyone trying to demonize politicians?
I think Obama's popularity is largely due to his charisma and the fact that he represents everything Bush is not. People want a change and Obama is pretty much Bush's polar opposite.
I will be voting based on my positions and which candidates best match my stance. If you want to get an idea about which candidate matches your views, visit:

But, I also wouldn't be getting my political advice from The View either.
I agree with everything aliadam said. He is pretty far left when you look at his record. Past socialists even. I had seen that ranking and that is based on his voting record - nothing more.
I also think he is a very charismatic figure so people like him. I admit, he comes across very well on TV.
