Feel free to move if wrong area.

Looking for books suggestions for birthday gift for 5 year old boy. I hate Dr. Suess so I never give those. I am looking to spend about 15.00.

Thanks in advance.

My students LOVE I Spy books, anything dinosaur, jokes, or sports.

If Mom or Dad would read to him, the Spiderwick series is also very popular. I hear the movie is a bit much for a 5 year old but the books are wonderful read-a-louds.

Good Luck!

Gift cards to a book store are also really appreciated!

Junie B Jones or the Magic Treehouse series. Is there any reason why you hate Dr.Seuss? My kids loved these books and I credit the whole Dr.Seuss series with their reading skills.

I love "Llama Llama Red Pajama" and "Llama Llama mad at Mama". If he is into dinosaures, Katie and the Dinosaurs is a great book (you have to buy it online as it is out of print). I am not a huge Dr. Seuss fan, but I do like My Many Colored Days.

Thank you for the suggestions.
I just get bored with Dr Suess and my kids don't really seem interested in them.

Do you think Junie B is too girly??

I would think at 5 they wouldn't be able to read well, so some of these look a bit advanced to me????
