My Grandmother's names were Flay and Winifred. My mothers name was Twila and my dad was Willard.
My niece's name is Calliope.
My dh has a cousin named Celeste.
Another cousin changed his name because it was Mars Shawn.

Those are the unusual names in my family.

My best friend's daughter is named Eiffel, like the tower.

But she doesn't look like she could be named anything else, adorable child!

I agree with the spelling thing, my name is Chrystal, yes with an H. Although, I"ve seen a handful of people who spell it that way, when i tell people my name they always ask "with a C or a K?" To which I respond "with a CH" and then they freak out and ask how to spell the rest of it, because the H throws them off.
There was a guy on the news out here for going to court for something and his name was Stewart Stewart.....whats up with that.

I went to school with a girl named Holly Wood. What were her parents thinking? I used to work for an insurance company and here are some odd names I remember from applications:

Dick Nibbins
Christmas Joy
Justin Case
and my favorite - Pat Mycock!

When I was a kid I lived in a poor part of the deep South. There was a little boy in kindergarten when I was in 3rd grade. His name was Johnson Johnson. He was the youngest of 12 or 14 kids and the parents had run out of names by the time he came along, so they just used his last name again for first name. I thought my mom was kidding when she told me, but sure enough it was true.

Dh worked with a lady who went by Cake. That wasn't her real name. She had older brothers growing up. When she was a pre-teen they used to tease her that she was flat chested and they would call her "pancake". Then she got a little older and they had to change it to "cupcake." Well, she kept growing and all they could truthfully call her was Cake. So that's what she went by. Even at the office, which just amazed me. I mean you can't help what your parents name you, but why choose to go by a nickname like that?
