When I was a kid I lived in a poor part of the deep South. There was a little boy in kindergarten when I was in 3rd grade. His name was Johnson Johnson. He was the youngest of 12 or 14 kids and the parents had run out of names by the time he came along, so they just used his last name again for first name. I thought my mom was kidding when she told me, but sure enough it was true.
Dh worked with a lady who went by Cake. That wasn't her real name. She had older brothers growing up. When she was a pre-teen they used to tease her that she was flat chested and they would call her "pancake". Then she got a little older and they had to change it to "cupcake." Well, she kept growing and all they could truthfully call her was Cake. So that's what she went by. Even at the office, which just amazed me. I mean you can't help what your parents name you, but why choose to go by a nickname like that?
