It might not cover BC, which I think in today's age is total BS. It costs $10k-15k or more to have a baby, our insurance covers all but 10%, however, they won't cover the mini-pill, which is $28 a month. I don't know how much the patch is, but I'll be going on that after I am done pumping breastmilk - I suck at remembering my pills, I don't want to get pregnant, and I need the estrogen to keep on trying to improve my bone density. I might try and fight to have it covered as a medical necessity(bone density problems/severe osteopenia), have to talk to doc about it. According to some ins. and the woman appointed to control federal fund for BC to low income folks, "Fertility is not a disease".
Last I knew (two years ago LOL) the patch came with a little $5 coupon in the box of patches, and those are for folks who have ins. that doesn't cover BC. If they don't now, I'd contact the company and ask for a coupon for use if your ins doesn't cover. I'm also going to give Planned Parenthood a ring to see if I can get it cheaper through them.
