We did it from Tiger Scouts...up through Cub and Boy Scouts. Ds stopped right before going through Eagle Scouts, I believe. We were moving, and it was just not the same in a new place with new faces. I think it is EXCELLENT for boys. Have you seen the statistics on how much less the boys in Scouts get in trouble? I wish I had it on me...there is some group that studied it...and found amazing results!!

What are the ages for that? I think my ds will be old enough next year

by the way, I want some boy scout popcorn for Christmas....anyone have a boyscout? I am addicted to their chocolate caramel crunch popcorn. If you haven't had it, don't try it!

My little guy is a new Tiger, too! I'd posted before that I have no idea how to make sure the patches line up on the shirt! Because I'm dealing with the baby, this is daddy's area right now, but of course, he relies on me for the costume part. My son looks sooo cute in his pictures. They are going to shoot rockets! I agree; it will be so good for him.

My son joined cub scouts as a Weeblo so he was a bit older. I know they did the pinewood derby, made catapults and launched rockets as well as took little day trips. He really enjoyed it. He is now a boyscout and is loving every minute of it.

I am a strong believer that sports and keeping your kids in activities will keep them away from getting into trouble. I'm sure the statistics are strong. They do look so cute in their uniform also! How does the rocket lauching work? Is that the one with the 2 liter soda bottles....I forget how that works.

Does anyone know the ages of these groups: Tigers, cubs, scouts? Just curious.

Cub Scouts is Grades 1 thru 5 (7 to 10 years of age). In order to be a Tiger in Cub Scouts, you need to be 7 or First Grade...at least that is how they do it around here.

http://www.scouting.org/nav/enter.jsp?s=cy

Tiger Cub Scouts First-grade boys join a Tiger Cub den, where each boy works with an adult partner on the requirements to earn his Tiger Cub badge.

Wolf Cub Scouts Second-grade boys graduate into a Wolf den. They go to weekly den meetings on their own, but their families still help them work on the requirements for the Wolf badge.

Bear Cub Scouts Boys in the third grade are members of a Bear den. They also work with their families to do the requirements for the Bear badge, but boys this old have enough knowledge and skill to take on more of the work by themselves.

Webelos Scouts Boys in the fourth and fifth grades become Webelos Scouts. Webelos Scouts do more advanced activities to get ready to graduate into Boy Scouting.

My older son did scouts for a few years and he enjoyed it. I was really involved with the pack. How fun or sucessful a pack is, really depends on the parent volunteers. Around here, a lot of kids join their pack at their school, if there is one, but some folks join other packs, just because it's a better fit for them.

You can use the link to click on 'Join Cub Scouting' to pull up a form to type in your zip code to find packs near you.

Mine go to their first meeting tomorrow. One will be a Tiger and one will be a Bear. They're really excited about going.

My son joined Tiger Cubs over the summer and he is really enjoying it. If you haven't already you should buy the hand book (our pack provided it for us). My husband is the assistant leader of our den and they have pretty much just been going through the book and doing the different activties that are required.
