I am pregnant with my 6th child. I know that is alot but they are well taken care of and I love them all to death. What I DON'T like are the comments made by the general public when I leave the house. Oh sure, people are friendly and nice when they see I'm pregnant and want to ask questions UNTIL they ask if it is my first and I tell them it is my 6th.
One older man was so NASTY yesterday!! When I stated it was #6 he said "so you like to f&*$" I can't believe that pervert said that to me!!
Here are a few of the comments I usually get:
"Are you Catholic?!?!"
"Do you know what causes that??"
"Well you must stay in bed alot"
"Have you ever heard of birth control?"

I am just soooo tired of the rude comments that are said. I am not Catholic but so what if I were? I usually tell people when they ask "Do you know what causes that?" I will say "Yea, the military every time my ex thought he was being deployed" Once I even had someone ask how far along I was I say "You know, it's not too late for an abortion" THE NERVE!! I am STRONGLY against that for myself, whatever anyone else does is their business but what is wrong with those people? The next person who says something like that I will be tempted to say "Look, I've heard that comment a million times, don't you have any better material to use??"

Have any of you had the same comments thrown your way when you tell someone you have multiple children?
How do you respond and react?
Have any good comments to say to those people without being vulgar to shut them up?
I would love to know that I'm not the only one being put down for loving kids so much.

I'm sorry people have been so nasty to you! It is amazing to me what some people will say, especially to a complete stranger!! I don't have multiple children, but I would come home from work really upset when I was pregnant with my son, people would ask me things like "How far along are you?", when I told them they would say things like "Wow, you look like you're about to pop", one guy said that I looked like I was carrying twins. Just stay strong and try not to let their remarks get you down.

I only have two and I still had people ask me if I knew "what causes that." I always said, Yep, and it only has to happen one time.

It's so annoying when people are rude like that. I don't know what the big deal is about having lots of babies. It's none of their business, really.

....the audacity of some people just amazes me!!!

I too am very sorry you have to hear comments like that...it's a shame we even have to share a planet with people like that

The size of your family is noones business!!!And what gets me with this story...is that typically when I see larger familes out they look much happier and the kids are more well behaved than 1/2 the Moms you see out with 1 or 2 kids?!?!(Next time you hear a screamer in Wal Mart hunt it down...it's never a child in a large group)

I too am sorry you put up with that...but I do like some of your come backs

Someone told me when I was pregnant with my fourth that I needed a new hobby. I told him he was just jealous! He was a "friend" of ours from the karate school. I would never have told a stranger that.

When I got other comments, I would just smile and say that God has truly blessed our family.

Some comebacks for you:

"Do you know what causes that?"
"Something you probably aren't getting judging on your personality."

"You must stay in bed a lot."
"Don't hate."

"Have you ever heard of birth control?"
"Why yes I have! But why use it when I can try to outpopulate people who ask rude questions?"

As for the perv who said you must like to f***, I would've just kicked him in the balls and blamed it on the hormones.

Just smile and say that "God has bless me with them, and I see he has bless you with THE STUPID GENE!

And walk off, or if you are in a store you can always call security and have them get him for harasment!

If someone asks if you've ever heard of birth control, ask them if they've ever heard of mouth control.

So long as you can afford your kids and care for them properly it's your business. I came to the conclusion a long time ago that the majority of people in the world are idiots. Just remind yourself of that if it comes up again.

Wow, what is wrong with some people? I'm so sorry you have to deal with people like that. I would have hit that perv ! And of course blamed it on hormones.

I haven't had those type of comments but I got a lot of comments when I was prego with my youngest because the age deference with my 2 girls is 11 yrs. Sometimes I just didn't say anything but other times I would give a smart comment back or say something that made them feel like crap.
