I was just wondering if you bought something/sold something on Ebay and it was a local pick up only item Say around $100-150 range would you rather have cash at pick up or them to go through paypal? I was just curious to see the reponses and the Why?.... Thanks I will share the story once I see others points of view.

I would prefer cash at pickup because there are no paypal fees taken out of the money. But then again, if someone pays by paypal, I know they are coming to get the item. But I would still say cash.

I always pay cash for pick up and I always expect cash from buyers picking up. Avoids paypal fees

ok that is what I thought too... Thanks for responding. I just don't get it. I bought a treadmill on ebay and my dh and I have to drive 2 hours to get it but the guy didn't want cash and would only give his address and phone number when and after I payed through paypal. I just thougjht that he woudn't want to pay the fees. HECK I know I would have just wanted the cash and the auction ended at a odd amount and I was just goign to round up to the nearest $5.... weirdo.... I told him that also. I just find it odd since we are also going to pick up a rear axle for my dh and that the guy wated cash and it is a larger amount than the teadmill.

Ive heard stories of people saying theyll pay cash in person then show up and try to talk the price down. Its the sellers choice IMO. If they want the fees taken out.. then whatever, yanno?

As much as I'd like cash, if it is paid through PayPal then it is a done deal. And there is no trying to talk down the price.

It gives the seller piece of mind they are not going to have to relist it if you don't show, and makes you obligated to buy it.
